למה צריך עדשה אחורית במצלמה לרכב?

אני מסתכל עכשיו על מצלמות רכב וראיתי שיש מצלמות שיש להן עדשה אחורית (שמצלמת את פנים הרכב) וכאלה שלא. למה בעצם צריך מצלמה אחורית? זה יכול להוכיח משהו במקרה של תאונה או שזה רק יכול לבוא נגדי, כאילו אם רואים שהייתי עסוק במשהו אחר בנהיגה? משטרה או חברת ביטוח יכולות לדרוש את הצילומים האלה מהעדשה האחורית באיזשהו מצב? וכמה העדשה האחורית הזאת יכולה להגן על הרכב מפורצים? כי ראיתי בפרסום של מצלמת רכב Transcend DrivePro 550 דו כיוונית Full HD (זה פה ) שכתוב שם ש"העדשה האחורית כוללת תאורת אינפרא אדום המאפשרת הקלטה של פנים הרכב גם בתנאי תאורה נמוכה" - שאם אני מבין נכון זה אומר שהיא מצלמת גם כשאין אף אחד ברכב, נכון או שאני טועה? ואם כן, אז זה אומר שהמצלמה צריכה לעבוד גם כשהרכב חונה, זה משהו שאפשרי בכלל במצלמות האלה? ומה זה בעצם נותן? המשטרה מתעניינת בצילומים כאלה בכלל? ויש אולי המלצות על עוד דגמים חוץ מזה שכתבתי עליו למעלה? יש אולי משהו קצת זול יותר?
